The Big Unkle

Jazz Funk Fuzion

Genre: Jazz-Funk-Fusion

The Big Unkle is an original, soulful jazz-funk fusion band from Philadelphia. In addition to their own portfolio of original material, TBU also plays select cover songs from the past to present day from the genres of modern jazz, funk, blues and soul.

Customizable

Perhaps one of The Big Unkle’s greatest strengths is the ability to customize the act’s musical selection and line-up to meet the diverse needs of each client. Talented and extremely versatile, TBU can morph from a 12-piece dance band to a stealth jazz trio for private cocktail parties, fundraisers, receptions and other intimate gatherings.

Track Record

The Big Unkle has performs in scores of venues throughout the Philadelphia area. In addition to their monthly appearances at Philadelphia’s premier jazz club, Warm Daddy’s, TBU has played at some of the most popular rooms in the Philadelphia metro area such as: The World Café Live, The Trocadero, The Hard Rock Cafe and The Tin Angel—to list a few.

Community Service

The Big Unkle regularly gives back to the community through their “in-kind” and discounted performances for dozens of non-profit and community-based organizations. In addition to performing in the annual Eagle National Bank 5K Cancer Run, Einstein Medical Center’s Martin Luther King Day of Service Fair, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia’s Family Fun Day and the annual Philadelphia Rock and Roll Marathon, TBU has been regular fixture at countless golf outings, grand openings, and other annual fundraisers and special events for charitable causes.

We were skeptical at first to add a band to our annual Eagle National Bank 5k walk/run, when we finally decided to have The Big Unkle, it certainly proved to be a huge success! They definitely were able to draw in the crowd, and the participants loved the music! They did a great job keeping up with the flow of the event and they really entertained us all! They definitely exceeded our expectations we have already booked them for next year’s event!
